JANACE ANNE - HISTORICAL INFORMATION (KRISTINA MILLER)
Janace Anne was built at Alan Williams’s yard in Milford during 1955 – 56. She was a typical Alan Williams with narrow planking with the added advantage of the hull timber
being handpicked by the intended owner’s father who was in the timber trade. Ray Lodge was the fellow that placed the order.
I had a friend send me a link to the restoration of Janice Anne knowing I would be interested. My father Ray Lodge built the yacht under the guidance of Alan Williams naming it after his fiancée Janice Anne, my mother. My father passed away 2 years ago aged 90. I know there were photos of Janice Anne being built which I will try to locate. If you are interested I can forward on if I can locate. He went on to build several yachts, including 2 Lidgards named Whispering Hope and Hijacker. The latest yacht is named Wildcard. An American design Schumacher. Completed several offshore races including Sydney Hobarts on Hijacker. You may have noticed Janace is also spelt Janice in my previous emails. She was brought up with the spelling Janace, but later found it was Janice on her birth certificate. So was known by both spellings. Just FYI. Katrina Miller |
